Print used copy barcode labels

You can print copy barcode labels based on the contents of a Resource List or Copy Category, a file, list, or range, of barcode numbers, or the acquisition date and time of the copies. Please note that you cannot print barcode labels for barcodes longer than 14 characters.

To print used copy barcodes

Note: Catalogers can print copy barcode labels in numeric order to facilitate distribution of barcodes. To do so, in the Sort by list select Barcode.

  1. Follow the steps in the blue bar above, and then click the Used tab.
  2. If you are a district cataloger or reports manager, select the district or a single library from the For list.

Note: If you select the district: The printing is limited to the first 1,000 qualifying barcode labels. In addition, you cannot select by Barcode List or Barcode Range. You cannot limit by Circulation Type.

  3. If you want more than one barcode label for each copy, change the number adjacent to Print.
  4. Choose the way you want the labels sorted: Author/Title, Call Number/Author, Title/Author, or Date/Time Copies Added.
  5. From the Select by list, select a method for identifying the copies to include:
    • List: If you have multiple Resource Lists, select the one needing the labels.
To review the contents of the Resource List, click View List.
    • Copy Category: Select a copy category from the list.
    • Barcode List: Either create a new list, or select an existing barcode file:
      • To create a new list, place the cursor in the Create a barcode list box and scan the barcodes, or type them in and click Add. To remove a barcode number from the list, select it and click Remove.
      • To select an existing file, click Browse to locate and select your file.
    • Barcode Range: Enter the starting and ending numbers of the range in the boxes. Destiny prints only barcodes that are in use; it skips any barcodes in the range that are unused.
      • You can leave both boxes blank to include all the barcodes in use in the defined barcode symbology.
      • If you leave the first box blank and enter a number in the second box, the printing includes all used barcodes up to and including the number in the second box.
      • If you enter a number in the first box and leave the second box blank, the printing includes that number and all those after it.
    • Date/Time Copies Added

Note: Destiny skips any copies without barcode numbers (those in-transit).

  6. If you chose Date/Time Copies Added, enter a beginning date and time next to From and an ending date and time next to To. Click the calendar icon for a calendar. Optionally, enter the time in the following format: <hour>:<minute> (7:00).
If you chose List or Copy Category, entering a date and time is optional. This allows you to further limit the printing. If you leave it blank, Destiny ignores the dates the copies were added.
  7. To limit the labels to copies of a single material type, select one from the Material Type list.
  8. To limit the labels to copies of one or more Circulation Types, click Update next to Circulation Types and select them.
  9. To include barcode labels for temporary copies, select the Include temporary copies check box.
  10. Select any of the check boxes to include additional information on the labels.
Barcode labels always have the scannable barcode and the eye-readable number.
  11. Select your label stock and the starting label.
  12. Click Run Report.
  13. When the Report Manager opens, click View to open the label report.
  14. After positioning the label stock in your printer, use Adobe Reader's toolbar button to print the labels.
